BGF hits £5bn investment milestone, pledges £600m for UK regional growth

Business Growth Fund (BGF) celebrated its 15th anniversary by surpassing £5 billion invested in more than 650 growth‑stage companies across the UK and Ireland. The fund has generated £3.7 billion in proceeds from over 280 exits, helped portfolio firms deliver £8.2 billion of additional revenue and created more than 35,000 jobs. BGF, which manages about £3 billion in assets and operates from 15 offices, has deployed 74 % of its capital outside London and the South East, reflecting its regional focus.

As part of its next phase, BGF announced a further £200 million commitment to Scotland and a £400 million commitment to the North West over the next five years, underscoring confidence in the pipeline of high‑growth companies outside the capital region. The fund’s minority‑stake, long‑term capital model is designed to let founders retain control while scaling their businesses.

BGF is now recognised as the most active growth investor in the UK and Ireland, supporting a diversified portfolio that spans technology, engineering, life sciences and consumer sectors.
