BGK considers up to 20 billion PLN in financing for CPK projects
Bank Gospodarstwa Krajowego (BGK) is exploring potential involvement in financing the Centralny Port Komunikacyjny (CPK) program. Under a maximum scenario, the bank could provide up to 20 billion PLN in loans to cover both the airport and the High-Speed Rail (KDP) components.
This move addresses a potential budget gap in the Port Polska program. Government officials have indicated that the expected 33.6 billion PLN in EU support for the rail component may not be fully realized, with estimates suggesting only 10 to 12 billion PLN might be available for the Y-line in the next EU financial perspective. This could leave a funding deficit exceeding 20 billion PLN.
BGK President Mirosław Czekaj confirmed that preliminary discussions are underway. The bank’s strategy involves participating in strategic national investments, provided the borrower demonstrates creditworthiness. The airport and the rail network connecting Warsaw, Łódź, Wrocław, and Poznań would be treated as separate projects, with each potentially receiving up to 10 billion PLN in financing.
