Bhagwant Mann marks Independence Day with focus on Punjab women's economic freedom
During the 80th Independence Day celebrations in Ferozepur, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann highlighted the state's progress, specifically focusing on the economic empowerment of women. He stated that this year marks a period of ‘economic freedom’ for women in Punjab, noting that over 65 lakh women out of the 74.59 lakh registered under the ‘Mawan Dhiyan Satkar Yojana’ have already received honorarium payments.
Mann also outlined several government achievements, including providing jobs to 69,093 youths and ensuring canal water reaches 88 percent of the state's fields. He emphasized the government's commitment to improving education, healthcare, and public safety while fighting drug abuse.
Additionally, the Chief Minister announced the development of a heritage complex in Hussainiwala at a cost of 25 crore rupees to honor national martyrs such as Bhagat Singh, Rajguru, and Sukhdev. He paid tribute to the historic significance of Ferozepur and the sacrifices made during the Indian independence movement.
