Bhogapuram International Airport inaugurated in Andhra Pradesh

Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially opened the new terminal building of Bhogapuram International Airport in Andhra Pradesh. The ceremony was attended by state leaders including Governor Justice S. Abdul Nazeer, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan and other ministers.

The airport, developed by GMR Group, is slated to become an aviation hub with an associated Aviation Edu‑City, enhancing global connectivity for Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam and surrounding districts. Officials highlighted its potential to attract investment, expand cargo and logistics services, and generate thousands of jobs, marking a major step in the region’s infrastructure development.

Political commentary has focused on which government oversaw the project, noting that the planning, approvals, land acquisition and construction spanned multiple administrations before its completion.
