Bhogapuram International Airport to be Inaugurated by PM Modi on Aug 1

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the Bhogapuram International Airport in North Andhra, Andhra Pradesh, on 1 August. Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu described the event as a historic milestone, calling the airport a "Jewel of North Andhra" that will boost tourism, industry, trade and employment while enhancing air connectivity.

The greenfield project, launched in 2014 by the previous state government, was accelerated and completed within two years by the current coalition. All eight statutory clearances required for commercial operations have been obtained. Officials from the civil aviation department and GMR, the construction company, briefed the state leadership on the airport’s infrastructure and readiness. The inauguration ceremony is being planned with participation from Union civil‑aviation minister Kinjarapu Ram Mohan Naidu, other senior ministers, BJP state president and senior officials. The airport is expected to transform the Visakhapatnam Economic Region in a manner similar to how the Rajiv Gandhi International Airport spurred development in Hyderabad.
