Bhopal traders protest municipal sealing of commercial shops
Traders in Bhopal are staging intense protests against sealing actions conducted by the Bhopal Municipal Corporation in residential areas. These enforcement measures, reportedly following directives from the Supreme Court, target commercial establishments operating in non-commercial zones.
Protesters have utilized various methods to express their grievances, including symbolic funeral processions for their businesses, striking plates, and road blockades at major intersections like Roshanpura and Mandakini Chauraha. In Bairagarh, the corporation issued notices to several establishments, including hotels, cafes, and gyms.
Business owners argue that the sudden enforcement creates a livelihood crisis for small and medium enterprises, affecting families and employees. They have called for a clear master plan and a policy to regularize existing commercial activities rather than immediate closure. Some groups have also demanded relief regarding bank loans and EMIs, warning of political consequences in upcoming elections if their demands are not met.
