BHP subsidiary awarded El Seguro copper project in Mendoza

The Board of Impulsa Mendoza has unanimously approved the awarding of a public tender to Cerro Quebrado, a firm belonging to the international group BHP, for the El Seguro copper project. The agreement is an exploration contract with an option to purchase.

The project covers the El Yeso, Fausto, and Gitana mining properties located in southern Mendoza as part of the first stage of the Malargüe Western Mining District I project. Cerro Quebrado was the sole bidder in the public tender process.

Technical and economic evaluations confirmed the proposal met requirements regarding financial solvency and sustainability standards, including environmental, social, and governance (ESG) criteria. Specific contract details and financial amounts will be disclosed once the final agreement is signed.
