Bialystok University of Technology hosts Open Access seminar

The Bialystok University of Technology, in collaboration with European University Across, organized a hybrid scientific seminar on October 20 to observe International Open Access Week. The event focused on the practical implementation of Open Science, discussing how sharing research results and data can increase scientific reach, facilitate interdisciplinary cooperation, and drive economic and social development.

The seminar featured experts addressing different scales of data infrastructure. Jakub Koperwas of Sages discussed integrated scientific information environments from a research institution perspective. Natalia Manola, CEO of OpenAIRE AMKE, provided a European perspective on implementing open science policies. Agnieszka Cybulska-Phelan from the University of Warsaw's ICM Open Science Platform presented Poland's research data infrastructure and the practical applications of scientific repositories.

University officials noted that open access is becoming a standard requirement for research funding from institutions such as the National Science Centre and the Horizon Europe program. Prorector for Science Marek Krętowski emphasized that opening scientific resources allows researchers to increase the visibility of their work and enables the verification of research results.
