Białystok launches senior-friendly certification program
The Mayor of Białystok, in collaboration with the Białystok Senior Council, has launched a competition to identify ‘Senior-Friendly Places’. This initiative targets institutions and organizations within Białystok that adapt their spaces and services to meet the needs of elderly residents.
To receive the honorary certificate, which is valid for two years, entities must meet at least four of six specific criteria. These include providing architectural accessibility, offering friendly service, providing special senior discounts, facilitating intergenerational integration, or participating in the ‘Active Senior Card’ program. Basic support requirements include access to free restrooms and the availability of water upon request.
In a separate regional development matter, discussions are progressing regarding the potential establishment of three new Polish military units in the Lubelskie Voivodeship. Locations under consideration include the Łuków, Opole, and Biłgoraj counties, though official sites have not yet been confirmed.
