Białystok Religious Communities Hold Funeral and Plan Church Renovations

The Orthodox Diocese of Białystok and Gdańsk conducted the funeral of retired Mitrat Anatol Ławreszuk on 15 January. The service at the Resurrection of the Lord Church was led by Archbishop Jakub and highlighted Ławreszuk’s decades of service as priest, dean and chaplain, as well as his awards from the church and local authorities.

In nearby Pratulin, the Roman‑Catholic parish of St. Apostles Peter and Paul is organizing a public consultation on a project to restore the historic church building. The parish seeks European Union funds under the “Sustainable Development of Cultural Heritage” programme and has scheduled a meeting for 16 June 2026, followed by a site walk on 21 June. The announcement also notes the recent death and upcoming burial of local resident Nina Hryciuk.
