Biedronka rolls out cash‑back service across nearly 4,000 Polish stores
Polish discount retailer Biedronka has completed the rollout of a cash‑back feature that lets customers pay with a card or mobile device and receive cash at the checkout. The service is now available in almost 4,000 stores nationwide, following a pilot that began in May 2025.
A Fundacja Polska Bezgotówkowa survey found that 74 % of Poles are aware of cash‑back, with 58 % of 18‑24‑year‑olds and 66 % of 25‑34‑year‑olds using it regularly. About 31 % of respondents use the option several times a month, and 12 % do so several times a week. Typical withdrawal amounts are small – 100‑200 zł (27 % of users) or up to 50 zł (24 %).
The town of Parowa in Lower Silesia recorded the highest cash‑out volume in the first half of 2026, followed by Dąbki and Siedlisko. Anna Spychalska‑Grzeszek, managing director of the foundation, said the service expands access to basic financial services, especially for customers without nearby ATMs.
