Polish discount retail and coffee promotions
Overview
The aggressive discount wave in Poland continued through August 2026, characterized by deep grocery cuts and intense coffee-specific promotions. In early August, Carrefour Poland launched a week-long campaign featuring up to 80 percent discounts on grocery items and “1-grosz” deals on products like Eduscho coffee. Biedronka and Dino also engaged in significant price reductions on coffee and grocery staples. In late August, Biedronka expanded its promotional scope beyond food. Following one-day deals on chicken and watermelon on 22 August, the retailer announced a major sale on industrial goods, including textiles, toys, books, and school supplies, running from 24 to 26 August. This campaign offered up to a 70 percent discount on the cheaper item when purchasing at least two qualifying products for Moja Biedronka cardholders. Simultaneously, Biedronka launched a ‘4+5 gratis’ back-to-school promotion on selected supplies and continued discounting coffee brands such as Carousel, Jacobs, and Tchibo. Other retailers joined the promotional activity during this period. Stokrotka introduced a 50 percent discount on various Wawel confectionery products, such as Michałki and Krówka. Dino announced new discounts effective 26 August, targeting items including Tymbark juice, Hania flour, chilled pierogi, potatoes, and pork loin. By early September, Biedronka maintained high promotional activity. The retailer offered ‘buy one, get one free’ deals on Dallmayr Home Barista bean coffee, reducing the price to under 40 PLN per kilogram, and a 50 percent discount on MK Cafe products when purchasing at least two packs. Other brands like Jacobs, Nescafé, and Eduscho remained subject to daily purchase limits for loyalty cardholders. Starting 10 September, Biedronka introduced three new collections of industrial and household goods, including kitchenware, children's items, and garden/renovation accessories, with prices starting from 9.99 PLN.
