Bienal Black Brazil Art launches international virtual meeting series
The 4th Bienal Black Brazil Art has launched its “Artistas (em) Conversação” program, a series of ten international online meetings running until November 30. This virtual phase serves as the public prelude to the biennial’s physical occupation in Recife, Brazil, scheduled for November.
The initiative brings together 125 creators across various disciplines, including performance, video art, installation, photography, sculpture, painting, and textile art. Curator Patricia Brito noted that the international scope of the event aims to connect Brazilian Black art to the broader global network of the African diaspora.
Participation is geographically diverse: the Southeast region of Brazil provides 57 representatives, followed by the Northeast with 40. The international cohort includes artists from Germany, Canada, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Puerto Rico, and Portugal. The physical exhibition will be hosted at the Museu de Arte Moderna Aloisio Magalhães (Mamam), the Museu da Abolição, and Cais do Sertão.
