Bieruń and Bielsko‑Biała launch citizen‑budget initiatives, with record bike‑funding in Bielsko‑Biała

In Bieruń, the municipal office opened its 2024 participatory budget, allocating 1 million PLN. The funds are split into an 800 k PLN pool for city‑wide projects and a 200 k PLN pool for local‑neighbourhood proposals. Residents can submit ideas electronically or on paper until 30 June; proposals will be reviewed in July‑August, with voting scheduled for 1‑14 October and results announced by 10 November.

In Bielsko‑Biała, the 2027 citizen‑budget opened 8‑29 June, offering a total of 10.2 million PLN. A historic 6.2 million PLN is earmarked exclusively for cycling infrastructure, while 1 million PLN funds other city‑wide projects and 3 million PLN supports neighbourhood projects (100 k PLN per district). Participants may cast up to three votes – one for a bike project, one for another city‑wide project and one for a local project. The final list of selected projects will be published on 30 October.
