BYU defeats TCU 17-10 despite losing star RB LJ Martin to injury
No. 10 BYU secured a 17-10 victory over TCU in a defensive, rain-soaked Big 12 matchup in Fort Worth, Texas. Despite the win, the Cougars suffered significant injuries to key players. Star running back and reigning Big 12 Offensive Player of the Year LJ Martin exited the game in the first quarter with an apparent lower-body injury after only two carries. Starting linebacker Isaiah Glasker was also ruled out at halftime following a hit during an interception return.
Quarterback Bear Bachmeier led the offense, accounting for both of BYU’s touchdowns with rushing plays, including a decisive 21-yard touchdown run late in the fourth quarter. The BYU defense played a critical role, holding TCU to 259 total yards and benefiting from a 59-yard interception return by Faletau Satuala.
TCU’s offense struggled in the wet conditions, managing only 62 passing yards against the BYU defense. The Horned Frogs' scoring was limited to a field goal and a late touchdown, but they were unable to recover the ensuing onside kick to force a tie.
