Bihar CM meets Union Ministers to discuss development and India-Nepal water projects
Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary met with Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman and External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar in New Delhi to discuss state development priorities. The discussions focused on budgetary matters, tourism development, and critical cross-border infrastructure.
A major component of the talks involved India-Nepal water and dam projects. These include initiatives on the Kosi, Gandak, and Mahakali rivers aimed at flood control, irrigation, and electricity generation. Specific mention was made of the Saptakosi High Dam project, a multipurpose initiative designed to protect northern Bihar and southeastern Nepal from flooding.
Additionally, the state is prioritizing water management through projects like the Kosi-Mechi Link Project. The meeting, which included Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Chaudhary and Rajya Sabha MP Sanjay Jha, sought to strengthen coordination between the Bihar state government and the central government regarding the state's prosperity and public interest.
