Heavy monsoon rains in Nepal have caused a rapid rise in water levels of several border rivers, including the Gandak, Budhi Gandak, and Tilawah, threatening flooding in Bihar’s West and East Champaran districts. District authorities have placed the administration on 24‑hour alert, directing police, disaster‑relief teams and water‑resource engineers to monitor riverbanks, repair embankments and keep sand‑bag supplies ready.
