Bihar government facilitates rescue of 106 pilgrims stranded in Nepal floods

A group of 106 pilgrims from Maharashtra, who were stranded in Kathmandu due to devastating floods in Nepal, have been safely evacuated to Nagpur. The rescue operation was facilitated through coordination between the Maharashtra and Bihar governments.

Following requests from the Maharashtra government, the Bihar government and the Sitamarhi district administration took swift action to bring the pilgrims across the Nepal border to Sitamarhi on August 28. The administration provided essential services, including food and drinking water, while escorting the group to Patna.

To ensure a comfortable journey, the Chief Secretary coordinated with the Railway Board to add two additional air-conditioned coaches to the train departing for Nagpur on Saturday morning. The pilgrims expressed gratitude to the Bihar and Sitamarhi administrations for their rapid response and humanitarian support during the crisis.
