Bihar Issues Yellow Weather Alert for 25 Districts Amid Monsoon

The Bihar Meteorological Department has issued a Yellow Alert covering 25 districts as monsoon activity intensifies. The warning cites strong thunderstorms, lightning, heavy rainfall and wind speeds of up to 40 km/h, especially across North, East and Seemanchal Bihar. Affected districts include West Champaran, East Champaran, Gopalganj, Siwan, Saran, Muzaffarpur, Vaishali, Sheohar, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Darbhanga, Samastipur, Supaul, Saharsa, Madhepura, Araria, Kishanganj, Purnea, Katihar, Khagaria and parts of Kaimur, Munger, Bhagalpur, Banka and Jamui. Authorities have urged residents to stay in shelter, avoid open areas and take precautions during lightning. The state has recorded about 42% less rainfall than normal this season—288 mm against an expected 495 mm—and temperatures have topped 36.5 °C in places such as Buxar.
