Bihar NEET Re‑Exam Solver Gang Uncovered in Large Biometric Fraud Scheme
Police in Bihar exposed a criminal network that placed proxy candidates in the re‑taken NEET medical entrance exam. The scheme used corrupt biometric verification at three Lakshisarai centres, allowing real candidates' fingerprints to be recorded on dummy devices while the gang’s operatives sat in their place.
Investigators arrested 24 people, including nine alleged "solver" students and 18 employees of the biometric service subcontractor Innovative View, which had been black‑listed by several state governments. Payments for a successful proxy ranged from ₹30 million to ₹60 million, with one operative reportedly slated to receive ₹25 million. Key figures identified include medical student Ashwini Kumar (who used the alias Mayank Keshap) and other medical college students from Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Odisha and other states. The investigation also linked the network to a previous 2024 NEET paper‑leak case. Authorities are probing the full extent of the biometric company's involvement and whether the racket extended beyond Bihar.
