Bihar police officials face non-bailable warrants in Bharat Tiwari encounter case
An Ara CJM Court has issued non-bailable warrants against 11 individuals, including former high-ranking police officials, in connection with the Bharat Bhushan Tiwari encounter case in Bhojpur, Bihar. The court has ordered that all accused be arrested and produced before the court by August 12.
The accused include former SDM Sanjeet Kumar, former SDPO Rajesh Kumar Sharma, former Shahpur Station House Officer Rajesh Malakar, and several others, including STF personnel. One STF constable, Akshay Kumar, has already been arrested in connection with the incident.
The case stems from the death of 28-year-old Bharat Bhushan Tiwari on June 17, following a confrontation with police and STF teams. While police claim the encounter occurred during a retaliatory exchange of fire, Tiwari’s family and political figures have alleged a staged or “fake” encounter. During a Facebook Live broadcast shortly before his death, Tiwari claimed he was innocent and not a criminal.
