Bihar woman allegedly shot dead by husband during newborn's ceremony

A family celebration in Chaklalshahi village, Samastipur district, turned fatal when a woman, identified as Manjula Devi, was allegedly shot dead by her husband, Suraj Sahani. The incident occurred on Tuesday night during a Chhathi ceremony, a ritual held six days after the birth of the couple's newborn daughter.

According to family reports, a domestic dispute broke out between the couple during the ceremony. Manjula Devi sustained critical injuries and was rushed to Samastipur Sadar Hospital by her brother, but she was declared dead upon arrival.

Local police have registered a murder case following a complaint from the deceased's brother. A Forensic Science Laboratory team has collected evidence from the scene, and authorities are working to recover the weapon used in the attack. Suraj Sahani is currently absconding, and police are conducting searches to apprehend him.
