Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya's residence attacked in Kolkata

Bikash Ranjan Bhattacharya, a veteran lawyer and former CPM Rajya Sabha MP, reported an attack on his residence in the East Jadavpur area of Kolkata during the early morning hours.

According to reports, several individuals on motorcycles and scooters arrived at the property around 5:00 AM. The attackers, some of whom had their faces covered with cloth, allegedly threw bricks and glass bottles at the house, breaking multiple window panes and damaging CCTV cameras. The attackers also reportedly used abusive language and issued threats to the leader.

Bhattacharya has characterized the incident as a planned attack rather than a random act and has suggested that ‘Hindutva goons’ may be behind the violence. Following the incident, he expressed his intention to apply for a firearm license to ensure his personal security. Local police from the Jadavpur station have arrived at the scene to investigate the motive and identify the perpetrators.
