Bilecik’s Osmaneli Watermelon Harvest Receives Clean Pesticide Report

In the Osmaneli district of Turkey’s Bilecik province, ten growers produced roughly 4,455,744 kg of watermelon as part of the “Good Agricultural Practices” pilot project coordinated by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry’s Plant Production General Directorate and technically advised by the Bilecik Provincial Agriculture and Forestry Directorate.

Samples taken before harvest were analysed for pesticide residues and all results were clean. The growers were therefore awarded the “Good Agricultural Practices Certificate” in a ceremony attended by Osmaneli District Governor Tahir Yılmaz, Provincial Council President Ramazan Kurtulmuş and Agriculture Director Çetin Ayvalık. The certification confirms that the watermelons meet reliable and traceable production standards and is presented as a model of sustainable agriculture in the region.
