Bilibili launches global app to challenge YouTube dominance

Bilibili, the Chinese video-sharing platform, has officially relaunched its international application to compete globally with services like YouTube. The new version is currently available for Android users, with an iOS release expected in the near future.

To facilitate global growth, Bilibili has removed the mandatory identity verification requirement for international users, simplifying the sign-up process. The company is also preparing an English-language website and is actively recruiting community managers in major global hubs, including Los Angeles, London, Mexico City, São Paulo, Istanbul, and Tokyo.

Key features of the expansion include improved localization and the development of AI-powered tools for content moderation and automatic video dubbing to bridge language barriers. Bilibili aims to attract international creators by offering monetization opportunities and a marketplace to connect influencers with brands. The platform already boasts 376 million monthly active users on its primary Chinese-language service and has successfully attracted prominent Western creators like MrBeast.
