Billy Gunn discusses AEW career resurgence and The Acclaimed pairing

In a recent interview with ‘Inside The Ropes’, veteran wrestler Billy Gunn detailed his unexpected career resurgence within All Elite Wrestling (AEW). Originally signed to a contract consisting of 12 dates per year alongside a backstage coaching role, Gunn revealed that his involvement in active wrestling increased significantly beyond his initial expectations.

Gunn addressed the strategic decision by AEW to pair him with The Acclaimed, consisting of Max Caster and Anthony Bowens, rather than focusing on his sons, Austin and Colten Gunn. He noted that the pairing was designed to provide The Acclaimed with immediate credibility and visibility by leveraging his established name value. This collaboration resulted in the trio winning the AEW World Trios Championships.

Despite being in his early 60s, Gunn expressed that he felt physically capable of competing with much younger talent, attributing his ability to maintain a rigorous fitness regimen. He noted that while the increased workload was demanding, it allowed him to remain an active part of the promotion's programming.
