Billy Joel reveals driving restrictions due to hydrocephalus

Singer Billy Joel has revealed that he is currently prohibited from driving due to health complications related to hydrocephalus. The 77-year-old musician stated in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter that the condition, which involves fluid buildup in the brain, has significantly impacted his balance, memory, vision, and hearing.

As a result of these physical limitations, Joel announced plans to auction off a large portion of his extensive vintage motorcycle collection through Christie’s. He noted that the neurological condition makes certain activities difficult and that he must undergo further medical testing to determine his future capabilities.

Joel also shared that his ability to perform live is uncertain. His neurologist has advised caution regarding the sensory intensity of live shows, noting that the stress, lighting, and sound of performing can feel like a concussion to him given his current condition. He is currently awaiting more tests to see if a return to the stage is possible.
