Billy Joel to auction motorcycle collection in November

Musician Billy Joel is auctioning more than 70 motorcycles from his personal collection this November. The collection, which includes vehicles ranging from the early 1950s to 2022, will be sold by Gooding Christie’s during the inaugural Retromobile New York Auto Show at the Javits Center.

Notable items include a 1978 Triumph Bonneville gifted by Madison Square Garden to commemorate Joel’s 150th sold-out show, which comes with a custom helmet. The collection also features a 1982 Ducati replica of Mike Hailwood’s bike and various other models that Joel often modified for better performance.

A selection of the motorcycles is currently on public display at the Christie’s showroom in Manhattan through Monday. The auction will be conducted without a reserve, meaning there is no minimum sale price for the items. The sale follows the closure of Joel’s Oyster Bay showroom, 20th Century Cycles, and his recent sale of a Centre Island estate.
