Billy Joel motorcycle collection auction
Overview
Musician Billy Joel is auctioning more than 70 motorcycles from his personal collection through Gooding Christie’s. The auction is scheduled for November 20 and 21, 2026, at the Javits Center during the inaugural Rétromobile New York Auctions.
The collection features various makes and eras, including Ducati, BMW, Harley-Davidson, Triumph, and Honda. Notable items include a 1978 Triumph T140 Bonneville, which was gifted to Joel by Madison Square Garden to commemorate his 150th sold-out concert, and a 1982 Ducati 900 Mike Hailwood Replica. The motorcycles will be sold without reserve.
Proceeds from the sale will benefit The Joel Foundation, a charity supporting humanitarian causes and music education. The auction follows the closure of Joel’s 20th Century Cycles showroom in Oyster Bay and the sale of his Centre Island estate. The decision to sell the collection follows Joel’s diagnosis of normal pressure hydrocephalus (NPH), a condition affecting cognitive function and balance.
