Biman Bangladesh Airlines orders 10 Airbus aircraft

Biman Bangladesh Airlines has signed a firm order with Airbus to purchase 10 new aircraft as part of a long-term fleet modernization and expansion strategy. The deal includes four wide-body A350-900 jets and six narrow-body A321neo aircraft.

The A350-900 models are intended for long-haul international routes, including potential service to North America, Europe, and the Middle East. These aircraft feature advanced fuel efficiency, offering a 25 percent reduction in fuel consumption and carbon emissions compared to previous generations. The A321neo jets will support regional and medium-haul operations.

This agreement marks a significant shift for Biman, which currently operates an all-Boeing jet fleet. With this order, the airline’s total acquisition pipeline rises to 35 aircraft from both Airbus and Boeing. The expansion is driven by Bangladesh’s growing economy, demographic shifts, and high demand from its global diaspora.

The aircraft are expected to begin joining the airline’s fleet around 2033.
