Biman Bangladesh Airlines orders 11 Boeing jets

Biman Bangladesh Airlines has signed a contract to purchase 11 additional Boeing aircraft to expand its fleet and modernize operations. The order includes five Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner long-haul aircraft and six Boeing 737 MAX 8 narrow-body aircraft.

This agreement follows a previous order from April 2026 for 14 Boeing planes, bringing the total recent commitment to 25 new aircraft. The airline aims to increase capacity and strengthen its international connectivity, particularly to serve the Bangladeshi expatriate communities in Europe and the Middle East, as well as to compete with carriers in Southeast Asia and the Gulf region.

The signing ceremony took place on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York. The event was attended by high-ranking officials, including Biman Chairman Rumee A. Hossain and U.S. representatives, highlighting the economic and diplomatic significance of the partnership between the national carrier and the American manufacturer.
