Biman Bangladesh Airlines to sign Airbus deal for 10 aircraft in October

Bangladesh plans to sign an agreement with Airbus in October to purchase 10 aircraft for Biman Bangladesh Airlines. Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister M Rashiduzzaman Millat confirmed the deal, which is expected to include four A350-900 widebody aircraft and six A321neo narrowbody jets.

This acquisition marks a shift for Biman, whose current fleet consists entirely of Boeing models. The minister noted that the government is making these long-term decisions to strengthen the national aviation sector for the next 25 to 30 years. Combined with a previously signed agreement for 11 Boeing aircraft, the total number of aircraft covered by signed agreements will reach 25.

Deliveries for the Boeing aircraft are expected to begin in 2031, with the full fleet arriving over the following decade. For the Airbus order, local reports suggest deliveries may begin between 2033 and 2037. The minister clarified that payments will be made upon the arrival of each aircraft rather than upfront.
