Binance begins crypto migration ahead of Stocks Account rename

Binance has initiated a staged migration of non-stock crypto assets from Funding Accounts to Spot Accounts. This restructuring process began on September 29, 2026, and is expected to continue through January 2027.

The reorganization aims to separate ordinary cryptocurrency balances from accounts used for stock and stock-option settlement. Upon completion of the migration, Funding Accounts will be renamed Stocks Accounts. These renamed accounts will be dedicated to stock-trading settlement and will support a specific set of assets, including USD, USDC, USDT, USD1, U, and BNB.

Other crypto assets, such as Bitcoin and Ether, will be moved to Spot Accounts for deposits and withdrawals. Binance stated that this internal architecture change will not alter total user asset balances or compromise fund security. However, users may need to update API account references, recurring payment plans, and Convert settings. Additionally, assets received via Binance Card, Gift Card, and Binance Pay will be credited to Spot Accounts starting from the migration commencement date.
