Binance USDT Inflows Highlight Liquidity in $300B Stablecoin Market
Binance recorded a net inflow of $272 million in USDT over a 24‑hour period, indicating a sizable shift of stablecoin capital onto the world’s largest crypto exchange. Analysts view such inflows as a proxy for “dry powder” that traders might deploy in spot or derivatives positions, though the movement alone does not guarantee immediate buying pressure.
Across the broader stablecoin ecosystem, the total market capitalization has surpassed $300 billion, yet the vast majority of tokens remain idle. USDT accounts for roughly 60 % of the supply and USDC about 23 %. Only about $4.6 billion of stablecoins are yield‑bearing, highlighting a low velocity of roughly five transactions per token before it exits circulation. Proposals in the U.S. Senate aim to restrict passive yield on stablecoins, pushing issuers toward activity‑linked incentives. Together, the Binance inflow and the overall market’s dormancy illustrate the tension between large capital inflows to exchanges and the limited use of stablecoins in real‑world payments.
