Binduri security operation kills suspect and recovers AK-47

A joint operation by the police and military in the Binduri District of Ghana’s Upper East Region resulted in the death of a suspected gunman and the recovery of an AK-47 assault rifle with 28 rounds of ammunition.

The suspect, identified as 32-year-old Isaka Sabani, also known as “Culture”, died from gunshot wounds sustained during the intelligence-led operation. Preliminary investigations indicate Sabani was wanted for attempted murder and the unlawful discharge of firearms reported at the Bawku Police Station on August 28, 2026.

Authorities also link Sabani to several shooting incidents in the Binduri District occurring between August 29 and August 31 at Agenda 111, Aniisi, and Gumyoko. The Upper East Regional Police Command stated it will continue to collaborate with security agencies to apprehend other individuals involved in recent firearm-related offenses to maintain law and order in the region.
