Bintan Regency proposes restructuring local government agencies

The Bintan Regency government is planning to restructure its regional apparatus to improve public service efficiency and strengthen coordination. Regional Secretary Ronny Kartika announced a proposal to reduce the number of Regional Government Organizations (OPD) from 29 to 25.

The proposed changes include merging several departments, such as combining food security and agriculture with fisheries, and merging environmental affairs with housing and settlement areas. Additionally, the plan suggests merging culture and tourism with youth and sports, as well as combining regional financial and asset management (DPKAD) with regional revenue (Bapenda).

Kartika emphasized that the restructuring must be based on comprehensive academic studies considering workload, human resources, and financial capacity. The goal is to create an organization that is the right size and function without compromising the quality of public services or causing overlapping authorities.
