Various biotechnology and scientific research initiatives are advancing in Brazil, focusing on energy, agriculture, and food science.

A biotechnology project funded by Faperj is utilizing artificial intelligence and machine learning to optimize biogas production in landfills. By analyzing chemical, physical, and geomechanical data, the system aims to identify why certain wells produce less methane and determine the precise dosage of transition metals needed to stimulate methanogenic bacteria.

In the agricultural sector, Vittia has launched a new generation of biological solutions designed to integrate into production systems. These technologies, including RizoForte and Guardium WP, combine microorganisms and different mechanisms of action to manage nematodes, control pests, and improve crop nutritional efficiency.

Additionally, the Institute of Food Technology (ITAL-APTA) in Campinas has launched a research initiative funded by Fapesp to develop functional food additives.
