Serbia and Republika Srpska celebrate Day of Serbian Unity

Serbia and Republika Srpska are jointly celebrating the Day of Serbian Unity, Freedom, and the National Flag on September 15. The holiday commemorates the 1918 breakthrough of the Salonica Front, a pivotal event in World War I that led to the liberation of Serbian territories.

Central ceremonies were held in Banja Luka and Belgrade. In Banja Luka, officials including Milorad Dodik and Savo Minić emphasized the unbreakable spiritual and political ties between the two entities. Patriarch Porfirije also attended, describing Republika Srpska as his home and noting the religious foundations of Serbian unity.

In Belgrade, President Aleksandar Vučić held a ceremony at the Palace of Serbia to award state decorations to prominent individuals and institutions. Notable recipients included Kazakh President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, who received the Order of the Republic of Serbia, and Scottish actor Angus Macfadyen. The celebrations aim to strengthen national identity and honor the historical sacrifices made for Serbian freedom and the preservation of the national tricolor flag.
