Bistrița pediatric playroom reopens, Brașov palliative care unit opens in Romania

The pediatric playroom at the Bistrița County Emergency Clinical Hospital has been reopened after extensive rehabilitation work funded through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan. The ceremony was attended by Mayor Gabriel Lazany, hospital manager Paul‑Gabriel Szekely, medical director Dr. Laura‑Bogdana Nat and representatives of the Inocenţi Foundation, highlighting the importance of therapeutic play for child patients.

In Brașov, a new palliative care department with 29 beds was inaugurated at the Pneumology and Infectious Diseases Hospital. Due to staff shortages, only ten patients are currently admitted. Department head Dr. Roxana Chiriș and hospital manager Dr. Dan Moraru said they are awaiting ministerial approval to fill the remaining positions. Patients praised the care and cleanliness of the unit, while officials emphasized the need for additional nurses and aides to make the unit fully operational.
