Bitcoin achieves 633% real return, outperforming gold and stocks
A study by Taurex indicates that Bitcoin has achieved a 633.2% inflation-adjusted return, outperforming other major assets including silver, gold, and the S&P 500. While Bitcoin reported a 25% annual decline, its cumulative real return remains significantly higher than the other nine assets compared in the report, which included property, farmland, and bonds.
In the same period, silver recorded a 60.7% real return, followed by the S&P 500 at 57.3% and gold at 55.5%. Conversely, savings accounts, U.S. aggregate bonds, and palladium saw negative real returns. The study utilized a methodology that adjusted gains for approximately 25% cumulative U.S. inflation and included dividends and interest.
Market performance for Bitcoin-related equities has shown volatility. While Bitcoin outperformed stocks and gold in September, several major Bitcoin proxy stocks, including MicroStrategy, Coinbase, Marathon Digital, Riot Platforms, and CleanSpark, experienced sharp declines in early October. This divergence is attributed to the high beta of these stocks, which often experience price swings 1.5 to 3 times greater than Bitcoin, alongside external economic pressures such as rising 10-year U.S. Treasury yields.
