Bitcoin and altcoins drop following strong US jobs report
The cryptocurrency market experienced a significant downturn following a surprisingly strong jobs report from the United States. This economic data led market participants to believe the central bank may increase interest rates this month, triggering a rapid sell-off. Bitcoin (BTC) saw its value drop by over 2,000 dollars within 45 minutes, falling below the 79,000 dollar mark.
Altcoins were also heavily impacted. XRP and Solana saw declines of approximately 4% and 3.75% respectively, while Dogecoin fell by 3.81%. Ethereum experienced a more moderate decrease of 1.71%.
Despite the price volatility, analysts from CryptoQuant suggest that large-scale investors, known as whales, are not currently engaging in mass profit-taking. Indicators such as the Exchange Whale Ratio and the Spent Output Profit Ratio (SOPR) suggest that Bitcoin's current price remains too low for major holders to realize significant gains, as many are currently holding positions near their average purchase prices.
