Cryptocurrency markets face divergence as Bitcoin and Ethereum ETF flows shift
The cryptocurrency market is experiencing divergent trends between Bitcoin and Ethereum, driven largely by institutional ETF flows and spot market pricing.
Bitcoin ETFs have shown volatility in capital movement. While some reports indicate recent net inflows of approximately $119 million, other data shows a period of net outflows totaling $89.8 million, with significant movement between providers like BlackRock and Fidelity. Despite these fluctuations, Bitcoin has recently consolidated around the $84,000 level.
In contrast, Ethereum is facing sustained selling pressure. US-based spot Ethereum ETFs have recorded multiple consecutive days of net outflows, totaling hundreds of millions of dollars. This has contributed to downward price pressure, with Ethereum trading near the $2,600 mark and facing key technical support levels at $2,558 and $2,500.
Additional market indicators suggest cautious sentiment in the US. The Coinbase premium has remained negative, indicating that US spot prices are trading at a discount compared to international markets. Furthermore, trading volume on Coinbase Prime has decreased, suggesting a reduction in active institutional trading activity.
