Bernstein forecasts Bitcoin to reach $150,000 by mid-2027
Bernstein analysts have released a bullish long-term forecast for Bitcoin, projecting the asset could reach $150,000 by mid-2027 and approximately $300,000 by 2029. This base-case scenario is driven by a potential ‘debasement trade,’ where investors move toward scarce assets like Bitcoin as government debt rises and fiat currency purchasing power declines. In a more aggressive bullish scenario fueled by rapid institutional adoption, prices could reach $200,000 in 2027 and $500,000 in 2029, with a long-term target of $1 million by 2033.
In the short term, the market is experiencing volatility. Bitcoin has recently struggled to maintain levels above $80,000, facing resistance near $79,400. Recent price corrections have led to significant liquidations in the derivatives market, with some reports noting over $600 million in total liquidations within a 24-hour period. Despite these fluctuations, analysts suggest the current movement is a price correction following a rapid ascent rather than a full trend reversal.
Institutional activity remains a key factor. Morgan Stanley’s Bitcoin Trust (MSBT) has increased its holdings to over 7,000 BTC, valued at more than $573 million. Additionally, the growth of spot Bitcoin ETFs and corporate treasury strategies are cited as stabilizing forces that may limit the depth of future market downturns compared to previous cycles.
