Bitcoin hovers around $64k amid institutional adoption and whale buying

Bitcoin prices have settled in a tight range near $63,800‑$64,200, with daily trading volume near $27 billion. Analysts note that the market is being reshaped by growing institutional capital, including spot Bitcoin ETFs and corporate treasuries allocating funds to digital assets. The influx of institutional money has altered the traditional halving‑driven price dynamics, creating deeper liquidity and slower, more sustained moves.

At the same time, blockchain data show a surge in network activity and whale transactions. Active Bitcoin wallets reached a three‑month high of about 712,000, and more than 60,000 large‑value trades (over $100,000 each) were recorded in the past week, marking the strongest whale participation in five months. This heightened activity coincides with a modest price rebound of roughly 1 % and fuels expectations that Bitcoin could test resistance near $67,000 in the near term.

Regulatory developments also feature prominently. Japan's Financial Services Agency announced a dedicated “Crypto‑Assets and Stablecoins Division,” signaling a more focused supervisory approach. In the United States, several senior crypto policy officials have departed the Treasury, while legislative efforts such as the CLARITY Act remain pending. Together, these institutional, market‑activity, and regulatory factors illustrate a shifting landscape for Bitcoin and the broader crypto market.
