Bithumb partners with Vietnam's SSID to launch digital asset exchange

South Korea's second‑largest cryptocurrency exchange, Bithumb, has signed a memorandum of understanding with SSID, a subsidiary of Vietnam's SSI Securities, to develop and operate a virtual‑asset exchange in Vietnam. The partnership will cover technology architecture, wallet and custody systems, security, compliance, and business development, with Bithumb possibly making a strategic equity investment subject to Vietnamese regulatory approval. Both parties say the aim is to build a secure, compliant trading platform that aligns with Vietnam’s emerging crypto regulations.

The move follows similar South Korean expansion efforts, such as Dunamu’s (Upbit) partnership with Vietnam’s Military Bank, reflecting a broader push by Korean crypto firms into the fast‑growing Vietnamese market, which hosts millions of digital‑asset holders.
