Cutro murder investigation: Mother and son arrested

Authorities in Cutro, Crotone, have arrested a 60-year-old woman and her 28-year-old son for their alleged involvement in the murder and concealment of 69-year-old Salvatore Giglio.

The investigation, which began following a missing person report filed by the woman in September 2024, revealed that the man had actually disappeared on September 21. Investigators believe Giglio was killed at his home and his body was subsequently thrown into the Tacina river near Steccato di Cutro.

Evidence collected through wiretaps and witness testimonies suggests the suspects attempted to mislead investigators. This included filing a delayed missing person report, coordinating false stories, and purchasing large quantities of bleach to clean the crime scene. Despite extensive searches by the Carabinieri, including support from the Ris and Messina subaquatic units, the victim's body has not yet been recovered.
