Dog poisoning investigation in Steccato di Cutro
Overview
Authorities in Steccato di Cutro, Italy, began investigating the suspected poisoning of nine dogs after police discovered carcasses along coastal roads and within a private ruin. Due to decomposition and sanitary risks, Mayor Domenico Voce ordered the removal of the remains and the sanitization of the area to prevent disease spread. The municipality also issued an alert prohibiting the use of toxic baits.
Following these discoveries, the Associazione Italiana Difesa Animali e Ambiente (AIDAA) filed a formal complaint with the Crotone Prosecutor’s Office. While other animal welfare incidents and rescue operations were reported in different Italian regions, the investigation into the potential poisoning in Steccato di Cutro remains a focal point for local authorities.
