EH Bildu uses Aberri Eguna 2026 in Pamplona to push Basque sovereignty agenda

The Basque nationalist coalition EH Bildu has chosen the 2026 Aberri Eguna celebration in Pamplona, Navarre, as a political platform to promote a broader vision of Basque sovereignty. By staging the event in the Navarrese capital, the party aims to link the historic Basque National Day with a message of an enlarged Euskal Herria that includes Navarre, while showcasing internal strength and the ability to mobilise supporters.

EH Bildu has invited fellow pro‑autonomy groups such as ERC, Más Madrid and BNG to join the programme, presenting a united front of regional sovereigntist forces across Spain. The coalition also plans to denounce what it calls rising militarisation and authoritarianism, tying its sovereignty message to social rights, peace and communal cohesion. The Aberri Eguna event is therefore framed as both a cultural celebration and a thermometer of the coalition’s electoral strategy ahead of upcoming regional and national contests.
