Bjelovar’s €41.5 million Wellovar Thermal Spa Nears Opening

The Wellovar thermal spa complex in Bjelovar, Croatia, is entering its final construction phase. Valued at about €41.5 million, the project covers roughly 14,000 m² and will feature ten pools, including a 50 × 25 m indoor Olympic‑size pool – the third of its kind in the country. The opening is slated for 29 September, coinciding with the city’s anniversary.

The facility will be almost entirely energy‑independent, using geothermal and solar heating and avoiding gas installations outside the kitchen. About 45 staff will be employed, many of whom are returning locals from abroad. Funding includes €17 million from Croatia’s National Recovery and Resilience Plan, making it the largest investment in Bjelovar’s history and a key driver for regional tourism and recreation.
