BJP criticizes comedian Samay Raina over controversial remarks

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has criticized comedian Samay Raina following controversial remarks made during an episode of the show ‘India’s Got Latent’. The controversy arose during a roast exchange between Raina and comedian Sharon Verma, where the two traded jokes regarding their respective backgrounds.

Raina made comments regarding Verma’s Bihari roots and her move to Mumbai for employment. Verma responded with dark-humor jokes regarding Raina’s Kashmiri identity.

BJP MLA Ram Kadam accused individuals who make such statements of deliberately seeking publicity to become famous, stating that the religious beliefs of Kashmiri Pandits should not be subjects of ridicule. Bihar Minister Mithilesh Tiwari and Jammu and Kashmir BJP spokesperson Altaf Thakur also condemned the remarks, with Thakur emphasizing the historical significance of the Kashmiri Pandit displacement.
